We wanted a shoe that could hold up to the White Mountains but not overbuilt. The Alpine Pro ticks those boxes and offers a few other welcomed features for trail runners. Tread is one of the biggest concerns in the White Mountain - the 80 grit rock here will rip your soles off in a heartbeat but Vibram Megagrip has proven to be durable and grippy even in wet conditions compared to other compounds. Other features we like is the weight. Coming in at 260g for stock size is on par with other trail shoes in this category, there's nothing fun about running in overbuilt shoes. Lastly, the quick lace system will eliminate wasted time re-tying shoes or fumbling to tuck your lace loops in. This model also has a rock plate, vents off heat and water, and should get you across the Presidential Range without your feet screaming (knees might say otherwise).
